There Is No Try

"Do or do not, there is no try."  Sage words from the man himself, Yoda.

I have this reminder on my computer desk on a cute Hallmark nicknack.  I see it every time I sit at my computer and plug away at the keys.  I see it when I waste time on the Internet (which I fondly refer to as Networking).  And when I gaze up at it sporatically, I remember what I'm really present for... bringing my stories to life.

I have a dream I want to achieve.  Doesn't everyone?  It doesn't matter how big or small, "a dream is a wish your heart makes."  Everyone has a heart.  Therefore everyone dreams.  But unless we act upon our dreams, trying without fail to bring them to life, we won't see them realized.  Yoda understood the fragile link between dreams and reality.

For this very reason, I love Yoda's wisdom.  The Positivity Blog posted some of the best Yodaisms there are.  They aren't a secret.  But how easy it is to forget them when times are tough and doubts creep in.  Here are some The Positivity Blog illustrates.

“Named must your fear be before banish it you can.”

“You will find only what you bring in.”

Yoda (Jedi Master's Hut). provides an even harder lesson to learn.  One I think we each struggle with on a daily basis.  One we must grapple with IF we want to succeed.

"You must learn control."

Control, you say?  Yes, young Skywalker!  Why, the very word derives work.  And that's enough to drive a pirate to drink.  (Thankfully, I don't drink much, just rum and an occasional Smoking Lemon Drop.)

Be it control over a habit, control over money, controlling how we use our time or how we deal with others, learning to control ourselves is probably the hardest lesson of all.  Perhaps this is why Yoda enforces this in his teachings with Luke throughout the Star Wars series.  Perhaps that's why we grapple with it our entire lives.

Yoda's Wisdom on Mastering Your Life with Patience, Presence, Power & Compasion.  This blog clearly illustrates patience, presence, awareness, facing our failings, learning our strengths and training to use our gifts to a fruitful end.

Maybe all we need to be successful is to have our own Yoda sitting on our backs, passing along advice, helping us choose the force that will drive us to improving our lives, not hinder it.  If that's what it takes to keep me on task, I'm all for it.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE positive quotes!  I'm surrounded by them every time I sit at my computer.  They bring me joy, peace and help me see the inward brilliance that yearns to be freed.  Yes, I'll keep Yoda in my life.  Good to me, he is.

    1. Hi Kristina, my fellow Crimson Author!

Your bebe speak got me to thinking about... "I'm the bebe. Gotta love me!" (Do you remember that show, Kristina, or am I showing my age? LOL)

Talking like Yoda is fun, but what I love most about Yoda is what he says always seems to ring true. It's a simplified version of what we know already, in a way we understand. Plus, it's Yoda, so it's way more fun!

      Thanks for stopping by, Kristina!!!

Ugh! Isn't it hard to keep up with everything and still stay tuned to your writing? We need to come up with a stream-lined way to handle everything, don't we?
