Ta Da! No Wand Necessary

I was recently at a Celebrate-Someone’s-Life-Event when my long-distance friend, Dancing Beauty, questioned me about wearing tiaras.  She questioned that I would wear one, that I have a whole collection of them.  And so I had to prove to her that it is in fact true.  I love, Love, LOVE tiaras!!!

So here’s how the tiaras play out in my life.  My very first tiara ever was a lovely Cinderella Tiara that came with a Halloween costume when I was about four or five years old.  I recall wearing that costume and feeling like royalty for realz!  And of course, I wore that costume as a nightgown until it was threads.  I think the color was a bit off and instead of Cinderella Blue it was Periwinkle Blue.  Maybe that’s where I get the Periwinkle Obsession from?  Hmm.  I never thought of that before…..

The second tiara is one I bought for a Mommy-Daughter Dance that I took Clair to as a wee one.  It’s not very big, just enough to fit around a bun.  It’s not really very fancy either, but it has lovely memories attached to it.  I think I was tiara shy at this point in my life, scared somebody might see the real me.

Then there’s the Ya Ya Tiara that my sister-in-law (Golden Child) gave me when we went out for girls night.  It’s paper and totally childish, but wow was it fun to wear that night!  We got lots of attention!  I recall adult beverages.

Next is the Daisy Tiara which is again, small and simple but it stands high enough to make a statement.  And what a statement it makes!  Golden Child gave me this one too.  It’s the Daisy Tiara and she gave it to me when V was a toddler.  She said I had to wear it on bad days to remember who I really was.  I’m pretty sure V had spent a long weekend with her just before she gifted me.  V’s a bit high maintenance.

But my favorite of all is the lovely Swirls Tiara which I wore for the beauty pageant.  I was Miss Kentucky.  Not really.  It was the Murder Mystery Beauty Pageant with the HOD girls.  But let me tell you!  When I put that tiara on, I AM a Queen!  I don’t know what’s so special about it, but it makes my inner Queen Lesia come out and have fun!  Finally!  I have found the right tiara for me.  This is the one I wear when I write “The End” to celebrate.  This is the one I wear when I need that something special like when we all honored Beverly Barton with our bling. It is my Harry Potter’s Wand, my Golden Ticket, my Glass Slipper.  It makes me feel like the real me!

There may be other tiaras in my future, I’m not sure.  But for now I am happy and content with the bling I have.  I keep them in my office to remind me that beautiful dreams DO come true.  And my beautiful dreams involve Heroes and Heroines!  Every Heroine should have at least one tiara, don’t you agree?  And we’re each and every one of us the star of our own story!

Have you found your right tiara?  Does your tiara make you feel like the Queen you are?

  1. I'm glad you have this talisman that means so much to you. But I must admit that I feel a bit left out -- I don't have any tiaras. The closest thing I have is jewelry that my hubby gave me that makes me feel loved and special, at least in his eyes. But not a tiara in sight.

  3. Sparkle powder. I can never go wrong with sparkle powder on my face. Someone important to me used to make fun for me for sparkling up my face. He said only in the south. Then he died. Three days before Christmas. It was a mistake to go to Christmas Eve service at church, but The Guy wanted to and I didn't argue. I kept trying to get ready, but I couldn't get my makeup on for crying. Finally, I said, "F### it. David, this one's for you." And I sparkled my face up really good and went to church. (Bad language. I know. It was an emergency.) I guess everyone thought I was crazy. They would have been right. It got me through.

  4. Everyone send some good thoughts Cheryl's way. She's got the flu. She will bounce back, but we may not see her here today.

  5. Tiaras, hmmm? Lesia, you are one well-propertied woman!

I like Tiaras. I have a few now that we stocked up to wear them in honor of Beverly. I've also got the mega-tiara. If tiaras were aliens from outer space, mine meg-tiara would be Godzilla. ;)

Sparkly stuff is cool. Cinderella complexes are normal too. While I don't sparkle my skin, I have a great collection of sparkly earrings. During our Army years, I had to go to a lot of formal events. Now, I just use these lovely accessories for Rita ceremonies. :D

    1. Don't you hate it when you mess up the punch line? That should have read... "my mega-tiara would be Godzilla." Muahahahaha!

    2. I have bad Japanese movie scenes running through my head now....little people running everywhere....Godzirra chasing them without really being capable of moving his body parts.....and the film is off sinc...mouths do not match the audio! Hahahaha....!

I have earrings and rings and other jewelry, too. I don't know why, they just don't do it for me like the swirly tiara. I always wear the same old thing...little diamond earrings, heritage ring, dove necklace...except at the Ritas. Then it's pull out the *bling*! :D

    3. Godzirra? LMAO! What's so great about those movies (and I have all of them on DVD) are that they are dubbed. That's what makes them cool!

Even better. My out of lip-sync/dialogue impersonation. Muahahahahaha!

    4. Ha! I should've known you would have those on DVD! How excellent is that!!!

  6. Ah, the power of Sparkle Powder!! It will get you through some rough times!

Jean always says, "Sparkle when you can!" Which luckily we think is almost anytime, even Christmas Eve services.

  7. Sorry I'm late. The flu was nasty. Still sniffling but am a lot better.

I love sparklies of all sorts - 'specially diamonds. I love crystals too! Anything shiny. Guess I am like a blackbird - have to have sparklies!

I only have one tiara. Since I am behind, I will have to make up for it and buy some more.
