Tales from Cancun

LTC and I celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary last week by going to the LeBlanc Resort in Cancun, Mexico. We had a fantastic time, even though hubby got pretty sick at the beginning of the week.  (It also rained those two days too.)

To start off our fantastic experience, we were met at the airport by a chauffeur, who produced a Lily for me and offered us drinks for our drive to the resort.  He pre-checked us in to our hotel during the drive and had a Strawberry Daiquiri waiting for me and a Coconut Milk (LeBlanc's speciality) for hubby when we arrived at the hotel.

After checking into our room and getting settled, we went down to the International Restaurant to eat lunch, since we hadn't had anything to eat since 4 a.m.  The International Restaurant cooks up anything on the grill and offers a wide variety of food, from deli to fruit to buffet and dessert.  (Oh, the desserts were to die for, folks!)

Here's the view looking straight out from our room.  You can see the lower half of Cancun farther down the shoreline.  Very picturesque!  Out the window, to the left, is all ocean view.

And to the right, the Lagoon, where we saw an Alligator about 9 feet long!  (I have pictures and will post them next week!)

LeBlanc is a fabulous resort for couples only, usually couples celebrating a wedding, anniversary, birthday or some such event.  There were couples of all types there and I even got to chat with a really nice woman from Pennsylvania.  (We discussed the resort and the man being rescued from a potentially dangerous undertow past the sand bar!)

Alligators?  Undertow?  Water rescue?  Yes and more!  At one time, we were in the elevator with the General Manager who offered to get us anything we needed.  (We decided not to mention Montezuma.  Pirate!)

Oh, and have I mentioned the cabana boys and the happy smiles as wonderful servers delivered your heart's desire... Ahem... Strawberry Daiquiris filled with rum, please.  ;)  (Got to shout out to my newest buds, Ana, Sara, and Laura.  Also, our butler/concierge Alex and Luis.  And I couldn't forget Alan "Alan Jackson".  Yes, he did say it just like that too.  And then there were Jesus and Jesus, Armando, Angil, and Jose, so gracious to fulfill our every need.)

Did I mention there were chocolate covered strawberries involved?  And yes, the Happy 30th Anniversary sign is made of chocolate and tasted oh, so good!

I'll leave your mouth watering.  (Pirate!)

More tales to come next week.  Same time.  Same blog.

Do you have any Anniversary or celebration memories to share?

  2. Happy 30th to you and LTC! What a lovely thing to do to celebrate <3

My most memorable wedding anniversary was when we lived in Ft. Worth, TX. I was forever pregnant with V (I delivered her 3 very long weeks later!). Anyway, it was a Sunday and I had decided to take a nap while My Honey went to the office for something or other. Clair was 10 at the time and could entertain herself. Or so I thought.

So I take this nap and wake up to the most beautiful array of roses on the dining room table. Aww. It melted my heart. I'm a flower lover, you know. I just assumed that My Honey was home and about somewhere with the flowers there and all. Clair was off reading a book quietly and I meandered of to do something.

A while later My Honey comes in and I hugged his neck and thanked him for the flowers. He had no idea where they came from so off we went looking for Clair.

Yep. Guilty. She had armed herself with $5 and some change, my cell phone, a flashlight (in broad daylight) and various other items in a purse and walked to Kroger ( a block away) and finagled with the florist for the flowers. Clair told the lady she wanted to buy her parents flowers for their wedding anniversary and after a good tongue-lashing for taking the trip alone the lady gave her the beautiful flowers for her $5 and change and made Clair promise to call her when she got home safe and sound.

And there My Honey and I sat not knowing whether to scold Clair or hug her close. So we did both and laughed together. Then we went and found the florist and thanked her for taking care of our girl. <3

  3. Congratulations, Kathy! So glad you and your hubby had such a wonderful time (even though he was sick). You make it sound like so much fun! I just asked my hubby if we had done anything special for any of ours (it'll be 7 years in August, 10 together). We looked at each other and laughed. Dinner...a movie maybe. Neither of us could remember!! I know it sounds awful but you have to remember we spend 24/7 together and usually out on the road.
The photographs are gorgeous! I actually returned from a visit to Costa Rica several weeks ago. Posted some pictures on my blog.
Anyway, I wish you guys many more wonderful years together.

    1. Johanna! So good to see you here today! I need to go see your blog pictures. ;)

LTC and I usually do dinner and a movie. He took me to Cancun for our 25th, which was the first time we'd ever done something so cool. He really wanted a repeat performance for our 30th.

Hubby and I have been together 32 years! Hard to believe how long that's been. Seems just like yesterday. 10 years is great! We'll have to dream up ways to jazz up your next anniversary. (Pirate!)

    2. Sounds good to me! I like to forget the 20 years with the ex, though. Those were rough. Hubby #2 is a sexy blessing. Wait...can those two words go together? Lol. Oh! Let me tell you: I've started revising Dangerous Masquerade, tackling the POV issues. Got a book on POV and some help. And I have your comments too. Exciting.
