I know that we often talk about weighty serious subjects here but today is pure lightheartedness! I have a confession to make. . . I love cereal!
I love all kinds of cereal but especially those sugary sweet cereals that are designed for kids. They are crunchy and sweet. Another plus is that they make your milk all yummy. I am not much of a milk fan so, in my opinion, it needs all the help it can get!
One of my favorite cereals is Count Chocula! Maybe this is where my early fascination with vampires stems from.
Its chocolate and marshmallows - how could you not love it? I am also a big fan of Reese's Peanut Butter cereal so you can imagine my reaction when a friend told me about Cheerios coming with a peanut butter version. I will admit that I doubted that it could be good. I mean Cheerios are a grown up cereal! Well, I finally tried them a few weeks ago and they are fabulous! I was so surprised! They are a whole grain and are supposed to be good for my heart! I can eat delicious cereal and feel good about it? Sign me up!!!
What is your favorite cereal?
Frosted Flakes! No surprise here, Tony the TIGER. Actually, I have always loved it. I don't usually eat breakfast but I do once in a while and I like the sugar! They're Grrreat!
ReplyDeleteLOL, indeed they are Grrrreat! I like them too. In fact, I just had a conversation at church last night about how the store brand flakes compare the to real thing.
DeleteWhen I was a kid I used to love Sugar Pops (sugar!), but now, I could very happily live without ever seeing another box of cereal. It isn't that I hate it, it's that it just doesn't grab me. Sometimes I'll have a small bowl of grits. Does that count? Ditto oatmeal. Because you have to cook them, though, I classify them more as real food than cereal.
ReplyDeleteOhhhhh, Maven Linda, I had forgotten aboaut Sugar Pops! I will have to look for them and try them again soon.
DeleteI once got into trouble with some Sugar Pops. My cousin and I ate and entire box of them one Saturday morning while watching cartoons. That was the morning my momma taught me to not be a pig and to share with my sister. Ahh, good times!
I am probably the only Southerner, born and bred, who does not like grits. I have tried to dress them up - cheese, sugar (go ahead and blast me) and butter (lots of butter) - and I still just don't like them. I do like oatmeal, but with brown sugar. Lots of sugar. Do I see a theme running here? Sugar? Glad my mom didn't connect the hyper-activity with the sugar. LOL
DeleteI do not eat grits or oatmeal, Sam I am. Not in a bowl or on the lam! ;)
DeleteI love Frosted Mini Wheats. But I don't buy them often cause Frosted is just another word for sugar. Usually I get Cheerios but I've been eating Chex lately cause I had a lot of Corn, Rice and Wheat Chex left over from a batch of party mix.
ReplyDeleteMarilyn
I love Frosted Mini Wheats as a snack. That party mix sounds pretty good too! I wonder how it would be with peanut butter cheerios?
DeleteHey Marilyn, I like Frosted Mini Wheats too. I don't buy them because I will find myself grabbing a handful during the day and eating. Boy, that's sounds good right now. Love them.
DeleteI loved that kind with the Toucan on the box as a kid....follow your nose, the ad said? I don't remember what it's called.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, my family has a love affair with cereal. I offend them with my organic healthy versions. My favorite (that I may eat once a year) is Barbara's Spoonfuls. And yes, it makes the milk absolutely divine! I only eat it once a year or so because by the time I've gotten my bowl filled with their scrumptious-ness, the rest of the family has devoured the remaining yum in the box! Buggars! Their favs? Special K (for the 11 year old...go figure!) and Cheerios....both heavy laden with sugar on top. Sigh. They DO love their sugar....I mean cereal!
That's Fruit Loops!!!
DeleteThat sounds yummy! Oddly enough, I never cared for extra sugar on my cereal.
DeleteBet no one exected that. :-)
Fruit Loops! Loved those things!
DeleteAnd no, Stephanie, I didn't expect that one...no sugar added, aye?
I eat mostly oatmeal, sometimes grits. Never cold cereal. It's a red-light food for me. I keep evening up the milk and cereal until there's none of either left. As I kid loved Rice Krinkles--which was like Rice Krispies with sugar. If they still make it, don't tell me. I didn't like anything with marshmallows in it. I still don't like marshmallows unless they are melted in something. I do like Grape Nuts, but you only get 1/4 cup. What's that about? Calories, that's what.
ReplyDeleteI think you should design a game based on your favorite game, Candy Land,--Cereal Land! Think of the possibilities.
Oh! No one can take me Lucky Charms. ;)
ReplyDeleteWe used to eat them all: Captain Crunch, Count Chocula, Frankenberry, Lucky Charms, Rice Krispies (yes, they still exist, Jean), Fruit Loops and Trix. I ate Lucky Charms until recently when I discovered the greatness that is Mueslix. Never thought I would like it but I actually crave it. Thanks to Lynn Raye Harris for suggesting it. I've lost 7 1/2 lbs now in a month because of eating Mueslix and curbing my sugar intake. Yay!!!!
Thats great!
DeleteMy son has been trying to get me to try the Kashi cereals. I have plenty of horse food up at the barn - his cereal looks like the bran mash I feed the horses. LOL
DeleteOh, great. I now want Chex Mix. With sesame sticks and Ceezits.
