Okay, I have resisted as long as I can; I find that now I will burst if I don't blog about football season starting! I am going to see Precious Angel in the first real game of the season tomorrow night! I am soooooo excited to be heading back to the Friday night lights!
I have new sassy hair for football season. I have gotten my team colors flip flops out and fluffed them. They are made of 100s of little strips of fabric that dance and wave every time something good happens on the field or when the wind hits them--whichever comes first! I have an outfit already laying out ready to put on Friday. I am considering going to get my toenails painted red and black which are the school colors.
These are the rituals that I have done for decades to welcome one of the best parts of fall. Wow, that makes me sound really old! I have always loved going to football games. Unlike Pantster, I don't have a lot of memories of when I was very young but one of my very first memories is of going to see a high school football game on Friday night with my daddy. We went with his best friend and his daughter who was my age. I got new shoes and a new shirt in the school colors. It was a GREAT time, especially since my mama wasn't there so I got to eat lots of stuff from the concession stand and run wild with other kids that we didn't even know!
Do you have any rituals that you do to bring in the fantastic season of fall?
Sad to say, but I'm not a big football fan. I usually only watch two games a year -- the Iron Bowl and the Super Bowl. I haven't been to a live game in maybe 15 years.
ReplyDeleteBut I do love fall -- that chill in the air, beautiful colors on the trees and a change in wardrobe from the same things I've been wearing for the past six months. A friend and I went to Mentone for the day last fall and had a blast. We've talked about taking a car full this year.
Good luck to Precious Angel's team!
Marilyn
Marilyn, new cool weather clothes is a great fall ritual that I didn't think to list! The new In Style is about 900 pages of beautiful clothes and accessories.
ReplyDeleteI hope y'all have fun in Mentone. It is beautiful up there! Mentone is where I saw Pantster for the first time so it will always hold a special place in my heart!
You know I am beside myself. I've already been to the inter-squad scrimmage and the Jamboree. Precious Angel looked good. He was bossing his teammates around, but that seemed to take it well. Wait. That's not bossing around. That's leadership.
ReplyDeleteI have no fall rituals, but I do love dragging the boots out and knowing I can wear them soon! And I totally love In Style - still haven't worked my way through the latest issue. Also bought the fall Vogue. Loves me some fashion, even if all I do is work in jeans and t-shirts.
ReplyDeleteBut oh, just bought me a pair of Betsey Johnson leopard pumps from Zappos! Should be here today, woohoo!
Jean, you are so right that it is leadership!
ReplyDeleteLynn, I can't wait to see the new shoes!
FOOTBALL!!!! I love it. And yes, getting the tail-gating gear out and ready. I also love the fall colors and leaf peeping. We're headed up to Gettysburg in October to see the battlefield and the leaves ( I hope they aren't gone by then).
ReplyDeleteAre you ready for some football! Apparently, you are, Stephanie. ;)
ReplyDeleteI was disappointed last weekend when I thought college football would be on tv again, only to find out I had to wait a few more weeks. But things are looking up. The US Open is about to start and NFL pre-games are televising. Soon, yes very soon, we shall see our college colors gracing the big screens again. Yahoo!
Go Auburn, Tennessee, Florida State, 1st ranked Oklahoma, LSU, Florida, Arkansas, Texas Tech and Texas!
Have I forgotten someone? Oh, a thousand pardons. Old Miss. (giggles and grins) Okay, just for you.... Alabama!
