Hold On.....Just Give It A Minute.

I’ve told y’all I don’t watch TV, right?  Well, somehow Kathy has me watching Downton Abby and I really like it.  Cheryl wants me watching the boys from Monroe in Duck Dynasty, too.  Maybe I’ll watch to see if I know any of ‘em!  We’ll see.  And then my family has pulled me kicking and screaming into watching their TV show with them.  Given they’re all geeky-nerd/nerdettes (which I am the polar opposite of), that generally means the SyFy channel.  And you know by now that as soon as the “Let’s watch TV” request has been made, my internal self groans in pain and wishes for some way to get out of it.  But then it’s my family, and I love them beyond measure, and so I cave.  I’m seriously thinking of taking up knitting or crochet because I can’t stand to sit there and do nothing.  I’m b-o-r-e-d!  I sit there with Restless-Mind-Syndrome just itching to get up and do something!  The dishes!  Floors!  Anything!  But no, I sit it out and watch TV with the fam.  I’m not real happy about it, but there you go.  (This is where Pinterest comes in handy.  I’ve found some great simple crochet patterns there.  Love, Love, LOVE the baby flip flops!  Now if I could just remember to get the yarn when I’m in town…then somebody can have a baby so I can gift them! :D )

So about watching SyFy, the show we watch is Eureka.  Sheriff Jack Carter, the law in town, often has these after-the-fact situations when he comes rushing back into the room to find out where somebody lives or what the directions are to a location he was already on his way to.  Well I feel his pain.  I do this all the time.  It makes me roll my eyes at myself.  And usually it’s in the form of sending an email….and then another to add on something I forgot….and then another, and another, and…you get the idea.

Anyway, sitting at my desk last Friday morning, seconds after posting to Facebook that the blog is up about my addiction to Relationships, I see the musical-tie-in…..

♫♪ might as well face it you’re Addicted to Love ♪♫

Geeze!  Why didn’t I see that before?  What a great title for that blog had I only recognized it before hitting 'publish'.  Hindsight is a buggar!  And it’s not just this moment.  Just like the Sheriff, I have a lifetime of these moments!  Thankfully, I just let it go and laugh it off.  It’s not worth losing any sleep over.

So I wonder.  Does everyone other than me really enjoy watching TV?  And is anyone out there like me and the Sheriff ......in your rush to living life.....
do you forget to  ….
Hold on....just give it a minute!

  1. No, I'm not addicted to television. I have just a few television shows I watch, to-wit: Ghost Hunters, Duck Dynasty, Swamp People, Supernatural and the News. Those are the only television shows I will actually plan to sit down and watch. If I am caught watching anything else, I am usually either crocheting or doing needlepoint because, like you, I am bored. Since I get up by 4:00 every morning, around 7:00 pm I am bone tired and getting ready to fall into bed. Watching television with hubby is my wind-down time.

And Yes, I do finish something and then hit send only to think, wait, I forgot to add... Guess I get into a hurry.

And do you really know the Robertsons? I am so excited. Not for me, but for my sister. She really wants to meet Si. ;)

    1. Cheryl, maybe that's half the problem for me....by the time I sit down to watch anything it's late in the day and I'm done. If I sit still I fall asleep because beyond the writing and taxi mom-ing and all, I've usually ridden 5-10 miles on my bike and let's face it, I can only go so far. However...if I pick up a book, I can read all night long! :D

About the Robertsons....I'm not sure yet. I sent out a text and am waiting for a response.

    2. That's my problem too, Lesia. Once I sit down, I'm done for the day. Body has to snooze. LOL!

  2. I am not addicted to TV but I do enjoy it. Mostly. I watch a few things that I would not if not for The Guy. (Mostly SyFy. Certainly, monsters, space ships, and general weirdness.) He likes for me to watch TV with him. And how can I not? He is so totally supportive of everything I do. And on the other he drug me kicking and screaming to the worlds of Buffy and Firefly, two of my all time favorites.

I can do two things at once so I proof, work crossword puzzles, and play on my tablet while I watch.

As for that other. You could have changed the title. I don't watch Eureka. He does. I tried.

    1. Oh that I could, Jean. But for some reason it's unacceptable for me to bring other electronics to the TV zone. Otherwise I would play with Pinterest. I think they're secretly afraid I'll read a book hidden in my phone. But I can't endure the glares I get from the nerdettes. Bringing yarn and needles is okay, just not the other.

    2. LTC hates for me to knit or read or do anything other than watch tv with him. Drives me nuts! Like you, I'm bored. Or at least I've got to be doing something to keep me awake. LOL!

  3. I don't like TV. It's a time drain. And I get so annoyed with cliffhangers that I have to wait AT LEAST a week to know what happens next. I'd much rather watch a movie. Seriously, I rarely watch TV, except while I'm at the gym. It's a distraction, plain and simple, and I avoid it.

But that's just me. And we don't have cable. We mostly just watch movies.

    1. Wow! I admire you so much for being able to resist tv. When I think about all I could get done without sitting in front of the one-eyed seeing god, I cringe. Way to go, Melanie!

    1. Oh, and....(you knew it was coming, right?)...if it was just me in the house, I probably wouldn't even own a TV. I can watch Netflix on my phone or computer. I'm good with that.

    2. Watch on your phone? Seriously? Okay, here's the thing. I don't get all this phone love. I have a 21 inch monitor. I know it. I just measured. My laptop is big too, but not that big. Too lazy to measure. As for my TV, it's a big football watching TV. Again with the no measuring. So I can't see getting on the internet or watching a movie on my phone. Not that I could. I paid $49. for it at Target. It does not afford me the opportunity. Which is fine. I mean, how could you even tell who caught the ball? Wouldn't the numbers just be too tiny?

    3. But see...I don't watch football. Just movies. And even then, I'm on my bike riding fast to nowhere. And that's only because I can't read on the bike...it wiggles too much and I get bike-sick. Sigh. Besides, I have the lovely iPhone which I can see good enough so long as there's no subtitles. :D

    4. I love my iPhone. Did I say that? I do. It's pink, too.

    5. Football without a big screen tv? Horrors!

  5. I rarely watch TV. Writing is a second job that takes up evenings and weekends. Hate reality shows. I have 3 shows I watch: Supernatural, Walking Dead and Hell on Wheels. If you haven't seen HOW, it's a terrific Western series. I can't wait for the new season to begin!

    1. Ah! Here's my kindred spirit. Patricia and I love us some Winchester brothers! Yay!!

Love Hell on Wheels and I did like The Walking Dead during the first season. Haven't watched much of it since. My mother can't stand the gore.

    2. Patricia, I LOVED Hell on Wheels and can wait for it to start again.

Kathy, you and your mom need separate televisions. I have a couple if you want them.

  6. Lesia, what a great way to send us off into the weekend! Love this blog post!

My favorite shows are: college football (almost any team- LOL!), Supernatural, Vampire Diaries, The Secret Circle, Ghost Hunters, Revenge and American Idol. Other than that, I really don't watch tv. Well, I have taken in a few Dancing with the Stars this season. ;)

  8. Oppps, I forgot to say that I really enjoyed reading the blog and it was fun to talk and read about what else everyone else was watching and how they felt about watching t.v.

I was on a field trip all day and just didn't get a chance to comment until now.

    Good Blog, Lesia!

  9. Good post, Lesia! And knitting is a great thing to do while in front of the boob tube. I'm making hats and scarves to sell this fall. I do watch Castle...and last weeks episode better not be one of Castle's dreams!

  10. Wow! You guys rock! And Pat I think I'll try your system...maybe I can get a head start on Christmas gifts or sell some handmade items in the fall as well. Great idea...Thanks!

Sorry it took so long to reply, y'all. I confess...I abandoned you at the edge of the woods at about 4pm Friday afternoon when I dove into the Girl Scout world of bugs and critters and boats and horses. It was fun but I'm glad to be back in civilization! <3
